First Coast Laundry and Cleaners is owned and operated by Chris and Angie Hagist. Chris has lived in the beaches area his entire life, graduating high school from Fletcher High in 1994. Their family business has been operating in Jacksonville Beach and the surrounding areas for more than 3 generations.

First Coast Laundry and Cleaners opened shortly after WWII - serving local soldiers as they returned home from war. It opened at the same 610 N 3rd street location that it occupies today. For more than 50 years, the business has been recognized as a leader in the industry, with services including dry cleaning, finished laundry, and expert spot removal for all types of fabrics and garments.

In 1958, the Hagist family became involved in laundry and dry cleaning when Melvin and Mary Hagist purchased the business, which at the time was operating as "Bob's Launderette". In August of 1968, Melvin partnered with his first cousin, Eugene Hagist and his wife, Patricia. Eugene later brought in his son, David Hagist, to manage the store. David worked hard, gaining the company a reputation as best cleaners in the beaches area. In 1970, the business began to offer more services, thus the name was changed to "Sunnyland Laundry." It wasn't until 1984, when David expanded his dry cleaning operations, that he again changed the name to the one we know today, First Coast Laundry and Cleaners.

Chris grew up in the business, working for his dad through high school. After college, he came back to the family business as general manager. Together, he and his dad grew the company to the four locations currently in operation in North Jax Beach, South Jax Beach, Ponte Vedra, and Atlantic Beach. David retired when Chris took over full ownership. Chris takes pride in maintaining the reputation for quality that his family has earned in their decades of service in the Beaches community. First Coast Cleaners has been voted Beaches Favorite Dry Cleaners in 2005, 2006, and 2007 by the Beaches community.
